Emaratis

Emirati are citizens who speak the Arabic variety of the Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Another definition of Emirati is Arabs with origins in the Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The largest concentration is in the Dubai, United Arab Emirates, there are 1.5 million Emiratis. Emirati people are ethnically diverse, with ancestries from Arabian Peninsula, Ajams (including Baluchistan) and East Africa. Many Emiratis originate from Bani Yas.

Emirati culture is based on Arab culture and has been influenced by the religion Islam. Arabian influence on Emirati culture is noticeably visible in traditional Emirati architecture. The influence of Islamic culture on Emirati architecture, music, attire, cuisine and lifestyle are very prominent as well. Five times every day, Muslims are called to the prayer from the minarets of mosques which are scattered around the country.

According to the census conducted by the Statistics Centre of Dubai, the population of the emirate was 1,771,000 as of 2009, which included 1,370,000 males and 401,000 females.
