GEMS Metropole School – Motor City, a modern purpose built school designed for education in the 21st century, is one of the latest additions to the GEMS global network of trusted schools. Offering a high-quality education for students from Foundation Stage through to Year 8 initially, we have plans in place to take students to Year 13 in successive years.
GEMS Metropole School teaches the English curriculum from which students can gain entry to university, the professions or to pursue career paths suited to their abilities and talents. It is based on a broad, structured framework that identifies expected levels of achievement at all stages of a student’s education.
The IGCSE curriculum that students will follow from Year 9 is internationally recognised and used in over 150 countries throughout the world. It sets widely accepted educational standards, supports a modern curriculum and promotes international understanding. In addition to developing specific skills and competencies, the curriculum emphasises thinking skills, enquiry, creativity, planning and a range of skills needed to meet the challenges of the future. Students will begin to sit formal examinations in Year 10. These are IGCSE qualifications from Cambridge International Examinations and lead to AS levels in Year 12 and A levels in Year 13.
The school will provide high quality education to students of all nationalities. The elegant, spacious, well designed classrooms and excellent campus features are well suited to the delivery of modern learning in a multi-cultural setting and will provide the quality of education that is the hallmark of GEMS schools.
GEMS Metropole School is located in Motor City, close to Sports City and Studio City. Recogising this, the school will place added emphasis on health and wellbeing and digital media through the curriculum and after school activities and will seek to develop sporting and media links within the area. As well as four well equipped Digital Media rooms, the school will have excellent PE and sports facilities, including a swimming pool.
