Lip Tie is a state where the frenum (also known as frenulum), the tissue that connects the upper lip to the upper gums, is very thick and may cause a gap between the two, upper front teeth. In childhood, lip tie may interfere with breastfeeding. Integrity Dental offers lip and tongue tie treatment, also known as labial (lip) and lingual (tongue) Frenectomy (or frenulotomy). We see many children who are tongue-tied and/or lip-tied and struggle with breastfeeding. They present with symptoms that have an effect on quality of life such as weight gaining issues and acid reflux. We have a committed team to hold you and your child as you navigate during a tongue or lip tie analysis. In our office, we use a laser to do a process a Frenectomy to eliminate the tie. With the laser there is minimal to no bleeding, short healing time. Child with lip tie may benefit from improved latching while breastfeeding after laser labial Frenectomy.
